WATER BAPTISM

Baptism by immersion/dipping into is one of our Tenets of Faith. It is a direct commandment of our

Lord, and it is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the believer’s identification with Christ

in His death, burial and resurrection. It is to be observed by the Church in the present age. However,

it is not to be regarded as a means of salvation. (Matt. 28:19, Rom 6:4, Col 2:12, Act 8: 36-39).

Water Baptism is a Biblical ordinance instituted by God. Water Baptism, as a spiritual exercise, is an

act of obedience that follows the inward act of repentance. It is the commandment of Jesus Christ

for every believer. According to scripture, it should be done by immersion in water. At Baptism, we

are buried with Christ.

“Buried with him in baptism wherein also ye are risen with him through faith of the operation of

God, who hath raised him from the dead” – Colossians 2:12.

This truth is reiterated in the book of Romans where it says:

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from

the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” – Romans 6:4.

Therefore, those who have repented of their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour

are eligible for water baptism (Mark 16:16, Acts 8:34-38). Every child of God should be baptized by

immersion in water for the following reasons:

1. To fulfil all righteousness – Matthew 3:13-15.

2. To identify with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ – Romans 6:3-5.

3. To walk in the newness of life – Romans 6:4.

4. To put on Christ and His nature – Galatians 3:27.

At Kingdom Embassy, those who desire Water Baptism are required to pass through the Baptismal

Foundation School where they are taught from scripture of the importance of baptism and the

spiritual power released after baptism. However for us to understand the depth of water baptism

we have to understand the new birth experience, what the bible calls ’Being born again’. In this

foundational handbook, you will learn about the power of the new birth and consequent baptism.

The significance of being baptized and what this act produces in your life. So you will do well to pay
